The State of Turkish Republic has become the target of different terror organizations for long years. Some of these organizations, including DAESH, FETO, DHKPC, and PKK-PYD-YPG, have caused death and injury of the thousands of citizens along with security forces as a result of terror activities that they have been carrying out in our country. With the support of the imperialist powers in the region, the terror organization PKK and its extension PYD in Syria have re-engineered the demographical structure with massacres and exiles by exploiting the civil war in Syria, and, thus, they have become a threat in the borders of our country. Turkey has suffered much more than any other country due to these issues in the context of this civil war.
Therefore, Turkey carried out the Operation Euphrates Shield and the Operation Olive Branch successfully to eliminate the threats of terrorist organizations in Syria. As a result, the territory freed from terrorist groups has been given to its real owners. At this point, the Brave Turkish Armed Forces have started the operation called Operation Peace Spring in conformity with the international law and with the power stemming from the love, faith, and pray of our people. The only purpose of this operation is to prevent the terror corridor that has been tried to be built next to our south border in the north of Syria. Our Glorious Army is the representative of our people who have stood with the oppressed and against the oppressors throughout the history. We wholeheartedly believe that its strong willpower will also accomplish this humanitarian duty as the ones achieved before.
Turkey has been exercising its right of self-defense against the terrorist organizations in the North of Syria attacking Turkey in conformity with Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter. Although some international circles make groundless claims that the operation targets Kurds and try to manage perceptions in this way, this is far from reality. In fact, the Operation Peace Spring is meant not only to be for the security of Turkey but also to be an initiative against terrorist networks massacring and exiling our oppressed Kurd, Arab, Turkmen and Yazidi brothers, and an initiative against the imperialist powers behind these networks.
We would like to repeat one more time that this operation aims to eliminate the terror corridor tried to be built with the support of the countries that we know as allies and to establish peace, tranquility, and stability in our country and region despite all the imperialist oppressions. Therefore, we, as the Senate of Afyon Kocatepe University, declare our wholeheartedly support and pray for the Operation Peace Spring and wish success to our army. We wish mercy for the brave soldiers and civil people becoming martyrs during the operation and we wish remedy for the injured citizens.
